2026 DEI Learning Day - Faculty/Staff Debrief
The 2nd Annual DEI Learning Day offered practical, high-impact opportunities designed to equip the Butler community with essential communication skills for navigating challenging conversations. Because conflict can feel overwhelming, these sessions normalized the difficulty of these interactions while providing a safe and brave space to build confidence and skill. Through the CPR Protocol—Clarify, Probe, Redirect—participants practiced strategies for engaging in meaningful dialogue that promotes positive change in both personal and professional settings.
To support continued application of these skills, employees are invited to attend one of two follow-up debrief sessions. These sessions will provide space to check in, share experiences, exchange ideas, and practice together using real scenarios. To help maintain a brave space, sessions will be held in person only. Both sessions follow the same format, so attendance at one is sufficient. Participants are encouraged to bring a situation in which they either used the CPR Protocol or wished they had, allowing discussion to be grounded in relevant on-campus experiences.
