The Threepenny Opera

Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill’s music theatre masterpiece, The Threepenny Opera plunges us into the lusty, cruel, and treacherous worlds of Jeremiah Peachum, corrupt boss of the syndicate of the city’s beggars, and the charismatic and predatory outlaw, Mack the Knife. When Mack “marries” his daughter Polly, Peachum’s sovereignty is threatened and he orchestrates the epic destruction of his underworld rival. Brecht’s epic dive into corruption, justice and kleptocracy exquisitely merges with the dark beauty and sexy grit of Kurt Weill’s music. This adds up to a disturbingly amusing show that features a cast of shady, yet alluring characters… and a surprise ending!
