Butler Theatre presents MACBETH

A prophecy. A violent seizure of power. A swift, intense fall from the heights of said power. The eponymous character Macbeth, encouraged by his wife Lady Macbeth and fueled by a prophecy telling him he will be King of Scotland, stops at nothing to ascend the throne, but heavy is the head that wears the crown…

Butler Theatre’s production of Macbeth is directed by Andrés López with special attention to the production’s fight choreography and weapons work. Professor López is an advanced actor/combatant with the Society of American Fight Directors, holding certifications in all eight weapon disciplines. He has been the fight choreographer for several productions, including Cyrano de Bergerac, Don Giovanni, and Carmen. In addition, Andrés has lectured nationally and internationally on the historical and contemporary practice of stage combat.

Tickets are $20, and $10 student tickets as well as the free of charge Wednesday show tickets can be obtained in person with any student ID during regular box office hours at Clowes Memorial Hall (Wednesday – Friday 10:00 am 4:00 pm) or at the door.

** Macbeth contains references to death as well as scenes of extreme physical aggression and murder. The production is generally suitable for ages 14+.
